a wonderful spring weekend

its what we had.
stephen was on call {like he is every weekend now - hence the great halt in our usual weekend travels.  he only gets one weekend off a month now, but its all worth it in the end...in this crazy economic environment.  some weekends are just like the work week, others are just like a weekend.  but we are thankful work is working and there is business out there to be had.  jobs and job security are just so....

ENOUGH ABOUT THE ECONOMY

back to mindless blogging and pictures of benoit
{which is either pronounced all frenchy as "ben-wah" or quite literally as "be-noyt".  just another of his many nicknames}

saturday morning we woke up and had a sit down family breakfast of eggs, toast, and fruit salad.
stephen and bennett climbed back in bed and watched cartoons.
they made tents and played with...wait for it......... bennett's thomas the train figurines.
we eventually got our act together, got dressed, and headed over to the local baptist church's
"easter on the hill."
remember last year??
it was exactly the same except bennett is a year older, a whole year less afraid of everything, and has a whole years worth of more hair ;)
he rode the horses and the train too many times to count, but steered clear of the bouncy houses
{generally not his thing, unless we meet the playgroup at kangarooz}.

and look who we ran into! neighbor camille.  they always hold hands
{partly bc camille's mommy tells them to, but mainly bc they are true love forever and ever}.

we even hunted eggs for all of three minutes before it was time to ride the "horsies!!!" again. DSC_3568

at one point bennett asked if he could ride the horse "that way", pointing to the road.  he would have done anything to take one of those ponies with us.  we said no.DSC_3591 copy

and we rode the train probably six times, to the point that mommy and daddy were nearly green in the face from all the turns and circles.  but this guy LOVED it.  contrary to last year ;)DSC_3594 copy

after the easter eggstravaganza on the hill we went back home and had a sit down family lunch.
{i know!! too much in one day.  this stuff NEVER happens}.
bennett napped and we relaxed and, when bennett woke up, we drove over to steelwood to grab some stuff stephen left over there last week.

we went on a hike down to the clubhouse to enjoy the perfect weather.
bennett lead the way {wearing what daddy dressed him in...cutie pie}DSC_3606 copy

i wouldnt mind having a house that looks like thisDSC_3608 copy

with a porch that looks like thisDSC_3609 copy

and a husband who looks like thisDSC_3610 copy

oh wait...i do have a husband who looks like that!
lucky me

we walked down to the lake and nearly got whipped away by the wind, but it was quite peaceful.DSC_3615 copy

then we spotted an aligator.DSC_3622 copy

and my camera died.

due to ALL THE PICTURES!!
march is seriously putting february to shame.
ill be back later with more posts {i feel it coming back to me...}

but for now, enjoy three more tidbits for your brain to munch on this monday afternoon

1.  planting your own seeds really does work!
 DSC_3624 copy
some say "duh" but i was very skeptical.  im still figuring out how green my thumb is. {its hit or miss}
DSC_3626 copy
even my strawberries are pushing through
DSC_3628 copy
this year we will {hopefully} have tomato, roma tomato, strawberries, squash, bell pepper, cucmber, basil, cilantro, parsley, lavender, and dill
my mom says i need to put them in the ground asap or they might die

2.  but we dont necessarily know where we will be this summer bc our house is on the market.  honestly its just the smart thing to do.  not our house's fault - we love it {and you will too if you buy it!! anyone??}.  but its just the right thing to do.  SO we have had lots of fresh flowers about recently.  and you may already know this, but if you dont these flowers {very common find at local grocer} last about two weeks which is great when you are showing your house. {or just want that $6.99 to stretch as looooooong as it can}

3.  have you had your v8 today?
DSC_3629 copy
i swear by these things.  without it i would have probably zero servings of vegetables in a day.  or maybe a half. but with it, i get ONE.  or one and a half ;) also, only get the low sodium small cans.  unless you really love this type of stuff.  i gag if i drink any more than what that small can offers.  and i actually enjoy what that small can offers.

the end!
