i feel like we really made this Easter season count this year. the meaning of the season never changes, but it sure is fun having a little one to share it with. it reminds you of the precious nature of the crucifixion story, and honestly presents a completely different relationship/view of the events leading up to and following Good Friday. we had a lot of family fun, and this year it was wonderful sharing it with bennett, who was actually old enough to enjoy it all!
now when it comes to pictures,
man i have a ton of them. its kinda hard to pick and choose, so enjoy the ones that made the cut!
Saturday morning: we met the roes at their church's easter event. we were there right when it began, so bennett got first pick of all the easter eggs in his age-group. he caught on quickly and loved the putting-things-in, and then also the taking-things-out. at one point a little girl came over and started taking bennetts eggs, to which he responded by giving her the rest. such a generous little fellow, but we did try to teach him to hold on to those eggs and dont be going and lettin anyone take em.
hmm a stick would add a nice touch to my growing egg collection
during the egg hunt bennett spied the horses, and yes, my BABY was big enough to ride one. i still am in shock when i look at these pictures. there is no way he is old enough to ride a horse. but the pictures prove me wrong. he held on to the saddle all by himself and, with a huge grin on his face, walked around the circle with pop standing close by (and holding on of course).
after some posing for the camera, hugging the bunny, and eventually throwing the bunny prop on the ground,
it was time to ride the choo choo train. again, RIGHT up bennett's alley. what is better to this boy than to be on something that GOES. well, i guess it would have been better if he didnt think his uncles were stealing him. he must have thought mama and daddy were making a run for it or shipping him off somewhere bc he SCREAMED the entire time. uncle awesome and uncle david were good sports though. so were all the other sweet easterly-dressed passengers who had to bear the cries during the rather lengthy ride.
Saturday night: we had dinner at the setzler's house. the easter bunny visited and bennett received such lovelies as rain boots, a bathing suit, a personalized t shirt, and a duck puppet that quacks "old macdonald," "london bridge is falling down," and "frere-jacques." bennett pushed his shopping cart around outside while we enjoyed the spring weather (which actually turned a little warm).
{you might not be able to really tell in this picture, but bennett is obsessed with his belly button right now. he walks around the house with his shirt pulled up and one hand on the belly button at all times. he also loves my belly button and proceeds to pull up my shirt as well...usually not taking into account the surroundings, which some have found offensive}
Easter morning: the easter bunny went a little overboard this year and got b a cozy coupe. lets just say we had the HAPPIEST little boy on easter morning...
the big EB also hid some {empty} Easter eggs around the house and, after we pried bennett's fingers off the steering wheel, he did enjoy hunting them down. well, about five of them. the other six or so eggs stayed "hidden" until we got back from church and lunch on sunday.
{i dont know what happened with that last post---it was just the picture of bennett with the egg in his mouth and it said "Happy Easter" on it}
