Christmas Eve

Here I go with the update marathon!

Christmas Eve we dressed and brought Bennett with us to our church service, to stay in the nursery that the nursery ladies had informed me would be available. It was not. I didn't bring any toys for church-service-entertaining, but we sat in one of the FRONT rows (that is where Erin and Ben and Ben's family were sitting) and made the best of it. Bennett was great. He flirted with the ladies in front of and behind us, walked up and down the aisle, sat in Mr. Kennemer's lap, stroked the girls hair in the pew in front of us (good thing she thought it was cute), played with our keys, crumpled up the programs, and listened to the music. It was a wonderful service and it actually was quite wonderful, too, to share it with Bennett. After communion we were able to leave, and we drove to Stephen's parents house for a Christmas visit with them.

It was a weird time, and we didn't know exactly how to do Bennett's bedtime 'routine,' since we DID want him to open presents and everything. Santa Roe brought out some fabulous toys and we had an absolute blast watching Bennett play with them.

This one was a HIT and still is. He can't get enough of all the buttons, noises, and the fact that it MOVES! Then it was Bennett dinner time, Bennett bath time, and Bennett nite nite time.

He never really cared about the wrapping paper, just the BOWS

After we tucked Bennett in, we older Roes (term used loosely) gathered around for a yummy Christmas Eve feast. THEN, it was PRESENT TIME.

There was some interesting wrapping courtesy of Uncle Awesome.

Uncle David also had one 'unique' present presented in an old Ninja Turtles' sleeping bag. The boys got their annual "toy": this year it was light sabers, Star Wars style. So we light-sabered for almost an hour before the rest of the present opening continued. :)

Poor, Poor Laura

But you can't feel too bad for her, she WAS the gift-giver!

Stephen's kind of lighter

It was a wonderful night, with some wonderful gifts given and received. Around eleven we tucked a drowsy Bennett into our car and headed off to our humble abode so Santa could include our house in his yearly soirre.
