Looking Back

December 29, 2007:

"Natalie asked me, Erin, to update the blog, because BOY has there been some updating to do (pardon my blogging abilities...it's my first time...got a crash course over the phone from Nat, and have too much to say to worry about "blog prettiness")! Natalie and Stephen went to the Dr.'s appointment Thursday at 3PM as planned, and got a little news! Due to the fluid in Bennett's kindneys increasing, Dr. Helen decided to go ahead and get the little guy out! The surprised expectant parents had 2 choices. (1) have a scheduled c section on friday, or (2) go into the hospital friday evening and start induction saturday morning!!!! Quite earlier than the planned and EXPECTED january 7th induction date! They chose option number 2!!! (all of the family was notified. Luckily Rachel and David havent gone back to school yet, and Michael hadnt gone on his work trip yet... Ben and I cancelled our trip to Washington DC and wouldn't miss it for the world!)

Friday, "the girls" got together and spent a whirlwind day in the nursery organizing and cleaning (mind you they STILL don't have furniture yet), hitting up Babies'R Us, Target, Motherhood Maternity, and Linen's N Things for last minute items. Meanwhile "the guys" installed doors, painted, put away christmas ornaments, and fixed a sink back at the house. 4 Pm Nat and stephen were off to the hospital!

Saturday morning they administered the petocin and gave her an epidural. She was at 2 CM. Well, the epidural wasn't working very well after a little while. In much pain, the anesthesiologist was called back in to redo. FINALLY Nat had some relief and fell immediately to sleep. Now we're at 5CM! After us girls had some lunch down at the cafeteria, we came in to check on them. Now we're at 6CM. Head to the waiting room, waiting to call the boys when it gets closer. Not 10 minutes after we left the room we get a text from Stephen "8CM". So, we call the boys, they are all on their way. we wait, and wait, and wait, and wait... no word or response from stephen who had been doing a great job updating us with text messages all along... we figured something was up. 3:30, nurse comes into the waiting room calling for the grandparents. OH MY GOODNESS! we freaked out. a few minutes later they call the rest of us back. OH WHAT AN INCREDIBLE SIGHT!!!

Bennett Michael Roe December 29, 2007 2:20 PM 8 pounds 5 ounces 21 inches
Mommy Natalie, Daddy Stephen, and Baby Bennett all doing great. Bennett is just perfect. She pushed for about 45 minutes and he came right on out. Beautiful little miracle. When we finally got to see them, Bennett was in mommy's arms, looking around and SO alert! He didn't cry, just made a few cute little baby noises. Perfect little face, 10 fingers, 10 toes, beautiful and healthy. Nat of course was quite tired (after no sleep that night and pushing a baby out!), hungry (no food all day and kinda dizzy), but on cloud 9! stephen just loved showing off his cute little guy! hey mommy, i think i have your nose and your cheeks! what a beautiful family! another Roe boy! we are aunts!!! such excited GODparents! we left the hospital to let them rest and enjoy their little newborn. The Roe and Setzler families popped open a few great bottles of wine & celebrated at dinner @ SHIRAZ. We couldn't stop looking at our cell phones, where we had all put Bennett's picture on our wallpaper, in addition to anxiously awaiting any updates from the new parents. the happiest grandparents in the world! great aunt, aunt, aunt and uncle! They have now moved to ROOM 2313 at MOBILE INFIRMARY. Visitors are welcome to come by tomorrow (Sunday). Planning on going home atleast by Monday. Hope you all enjoy the pictures and I know Natalie and Stephen thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers! They have truly been blessed! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENNETT and goodnight!
