One day B will be able to tell me this, but for now I just get this pitiful, sleepy blue eyed look and my heart melts.
Oh I hate this feeling: my baby is sick. He has had some very FULL diapers the last day or so, MANY more than usual. When we got home last night from dinner, I went in to check on B and could tell when I walked in the room that he had a dirty diaper (which is odd at night). I got him up and changed him (he was very groggy and confused but fell right back to sleep). This morning, he slept till 8, and had another dirty when he woke up. Very unusual. He was very groggy and sluggish. He drank all his bottle, then projectile vomitted in my hair and all over my shirt. I am used to him spitting up, but this was a little much. He ate his bfast Bananas well, then just wanted to lie with me and cuddle. He fell asleep at 9:30, and we had to go wake him up at 12:30 to eat again. He only ate 4 ounces and then was completely uninterested in the rest of his bottle. This is when I KNEW something was wrong. This boy never just doesnt eat (He only at 4 ounces last night before going to bed too, according to Pop). After eating, he just laid there in Stephens arms,being very quiet and sleepy (but content). I checked his temp, which was 102.4. It may be completely normal for some babies to just be content lying there, or just sitting in their swing, but our baby is not one of them. Right now he is asleep again in his swing. I have called the doctor, but if they dont call me back soon I am just going to take him in to them! I cant help but thinking all these things that could be wrong with him, but am praying it is something minor and normal and will just pass as quickly as it came on!
I hate him feeling this way, but goodness he is just so PRECIOUS! Love is an amazing thing, and I sure do love this sick little boy.

Sipsey acted just like that a couple of weeks before her first tooth came in...Fevers, runny noses, and generally not feeling well. Her first fever came right before I was to walk out the door to meet friends to watch Sex and the City. I went anyway! The fever was gone after a lukewarm bath and some Tylenol. I'm willing to bet you'll see teeth soon (unless he has them already? i don't think you've blogged about it.)!

ReplyDeleteIt's the WORST feeling in the world having a sick baby. They're so sweet and helpless that it completely makes you ache. It will pass, I'm sorry he doesn't feel well.

ReplyDeleteHey Nat... Liza is doing the same thing right now. It started yesterday, and everytime she acts that way (lethargic, sleepy, feverish, etc) I can just about BET that we will be up all night with a snoty nose. WA-LA. We were. She is really stuffy today, but the worst of it usually passes in a day or two. It is the worst when they are sick... hope B is feeling better soon!
