hmmmm...

bennett is learning to count.  his counting usually goes something like this:
"one, two, four, five"
"one, two, three, YAY!!!!"
a couple nights ago stephen was reading bennett a book that had some shells with numbers on them.  he said "lets count the shells bennett" to which bennett replied {without hesitation and with near-perfect diction}:
"uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis!" {there were six shells}
i kid you not.  i do believe its a problem when my two year old {who watches maybe 30-40min of tv a day} learns how to count in SPANISH before his NATIVE TONGUE. sheesh!!

this weekend bennett had a pretty bad sounding cough.  after sleeping until TEN sunday morning, i went to get him up.  i asked him: "do you feel bad baby?" to which he shook his head and replied:
"no.  benney woe happy.  momma happy too."

bennett is still not eating vegetables.  or really anything cooked {like he wont even eat chicken casserole anymore.  whats a mom to do?}.  i will try anything.  i even tried baby food recently.  opened up a jar of broccoli carrots and cheese, heated it in the microwave, and sat it in front of bennett.  he took five or so ferocious bites and just when a smile was about to break on my face he spit the fifth bite out, pushed the bowl away, and said
"no more green yogurt mommy.  ewww yuck"

i painted our kitchen last week.  just decided last monday that it needed to be painted.
it was red, and looked ok, but i am not and have never been a "red" kinda gal.  probably my least favorite color.  so why, you ask, was my kitchen red?  well, when we moved in every room was sponge painted yellow. {i think ive mentioned that before}.  i made quick decisions on paint {without even testing anything on the walls! gasp!} and couldnt think of anything else that went with the yucky "terra cotta-ish" ceramic tile in the kitchen, back hall, and laundry room, other than this brick red from benjamin moore.  and it {barely} lasted four years.  now the kitchen is a bright beautiful light green {hollingsworth green by benjamin moore, color matched by home depot's behr "paint and primer in one" paint - worth its weight in gold btw - i painted over RED in only two coats!!}.

{i wish i could explain in words how happy i am not to see that bright red stripe around my kitchen}

bennett got up from his nap last monday to a new kitchen and he was very excited.  every time i stood up on the chair to paint around the ceiling he would clap his hands and scream enthusiastically
"yayyyy momma!!!! yay!!"
he also spent the remainder of my touch up work with an empty roller, rolling it over the floor and the wainscoating happily chanting
"benney woe help momma.  benney woe help.  benney woe pain-tuh"

am i alone here? after creating a mixed media masterpiece on the tv in his playroom, bennett managed to whittle down an orange crayon to about 75% its original size using these

apparently after ingesting the quarter-crayon bennett realized this wasnt "ok" and told on himself by running down the hall screaming
"oh NO momma! uh oh! messsss! benney woe mess! uh oh! orange color YUCK!"

  2. Cute little B! Um, and I have to mention how much I like the new kitcen color! I always thought the red was pretty but I love how calm and peaceful it looks now. Paint can make such a HUGE difference! We were so happy to see our lime green kitchen walls replaced with Monroe Bisque. Made a huge difference!
