another season

ends.  at least for us, as 'hunting season' has come to a close.  in case you havent heard, my husband likes to hunt.  well, sit in the woods is more like it.  he doesn't really kill any deer, but don't tell him i said so.

it was a relaxing weekend, as these weekends usually are.  stephen actually convinced me to sit in a shooting house on friday afternoon, which i used as an excuse to start knitting my first hat.

 i saw one doe, and she was pretty and skiddish.  but i had a good time being outside, even though i was technically inside a shooting house.

i have experienced many a season of 'hunting' with stephen, and now much prefer to sit around at the camp or outside and knit, read, play with bennett, or vedge and watch movies.  not really into the actual hunting, its just not my thing, much to stephen's disappointment.  i do absolutely love going up there, i just disappear whenever there happens to be a deer shot.  it honestly doesnt bother me, that much, [the whole shooting of a deer], but i just have no interest whatsoever in what happens afterwards except the cooking part.  i am happy to have all the meat in my freezer and lots of fun things to cook (i usually just substitute it for ground beef).  mmm what a wonderful paragraph that just was.  im sure you all just loved that.  so onward i move

here are some fun pics of bennett

in knitting news, i finished my scarf (my first project-back into the world of knitting. the last, and only! previous project was bennett's blanket, as seen here) on saturday. on sunday night, i finished the hat i had been working on while i was "hunting" friday afternoon.  stephen thinks i should donate at least the hat to goodwill, but bc it is my first [hat] i think i shall keep it and wear it around the house
this is my next project - working on circular needles to make this hat from Soule Mama
this is what the finished project should look like. i will keep you posted

{note: i dont remember where i found the free scarf pattern, but it was cast on 18, k1, yo, k2tog and repeat until desired length}
{ok i found the scarf pattern, and you can see it here}

  3. Natalie, I love the scarf! I think I'm going to try that pattern today. I just finished a scarf that took me forever, and after that project I vowed to not knit a scarf again for a while, but I'm inspired.
