Well, I didn't think it really had been that long since I posted, but after several (very) intense text messages from my sister, I realized I had not updated anything of real worth (as in pictures) in awhile. My only excuse is - HELLO its Christmas season - EVERYTHING turns up a notch this time of year - my "to do" list gets almost unmanageably long with Christmas presents to make/buy/wrap, tree/house to decorate, work like crazy, Christmas cards, and now bday invites, presents, party, etc for Bennett. The blog just takes a back seat! It must be done. Sorry Rachel.
Here is a quick update on us:
Yesterday was the dreaded "hydronephrosis test" day, but as you might have guessed from my lack of saying anything about it, we decided to delay the test for insurance reasons. As in we are in a "waiting period for pre-existing conditions" until March '09 so none, yes NONE, of these hydronephrosis tests/appointments have been covered. And Yes we just found this out last week. So we talked to Bennett's doctor and have postponed this next test until the beginning of March, which the doctor said is perfectly fine. OF COURSE, if Bennett had to have the test now, we would DEFINITELY do it. Money is no option when it comes to the health of our baby. BUT, we have the option, so we are opting to wait until it is covered - this IS what insurance is for, right?!?!
Bennett is still changing so fast that it is hard to keep up with him. He is crawling like a maniac and is babbling like crazy (finally). He goes around the house in his sweet quiet whisper (talking to himself) with "tanado da mamamama labubu dadi dida do bibibi byebye ma tidado." (you get the picture) Its funny now when he whines he says "mamamamamamamamama" over and over again while he is crawling to me. I am not counting it as him calling me mama, but this is when he usually says it. He also has developed a way of answering our questions. For instance: if he is really fussy around breakfast time, the question "are you hungry, do you want to eat" will evoke a foot kicking, smiling, squealing whine of delight, while the question "are you sleepy, do you want to take a nap" will do nothing to him. Also, around nap time, the same thing (but opposite) will happen. The food question will do nothing for him, but he will answer the nap question with a smile, wriggling, and his happy-YES whine noise. Believe me I try it all the time. He lets you know when he wants something. He also has developed a habit of coming up to me and hitting me on the leg when he has a diirrrrty diaper. Seriously. Everyday he comes and tells me when he has one. I never just "happen upon" him with a dirty diaper. And when I ask him "are you dirty" he does the same happy response I described earlier, but none of the other questions will get a response out of him. Crazy, right? Needless to say I listen to him when he lets me know he is any of these things!!
We are also using the word NO a whole lot more these days. Mainly to touching things, of course. He listens to us, but sometimes the temptation is much too much too great. Like pulling the nite light out of the socket. Those are now gone and replaced with baby proofing.
This new-found Independence he has gained from crawling has lead to a multiple personality baby. One minute its "MAMAMAMA I want you please hold me, dont work, dont do anything, SERIOUSLY dont walk away or even look anywhere but at me" and then the next he is wriggling like crazy to get away and pushes my hand away and will play by himself for an hour. THIS is new. I must admit the first time he pushed me away I felt like crying. What? Now he doesnt WANT ME anymore? I am his MAMA! But I completely understand it is this new Independence thing he is trying out. He loves it, but not too much of it. It is all so amazing to me. Watching him learn and adjust and grow. What a miracle his life is every single day.
I hate to say it, but I have not taken many pictures recently. I think this month has been the least so far in his one year of life. We are just so busy busy and he seems to be living in pajamas until after lunch when we finally get dressed for the {rest of} the day and go run our errands before we come home for his second nap. I almost typed "our second nap" but that is far from the truth. No rest for the weary!
Hey, Y'all remember the whole Christmas stocking debate? WELLLL I have been working away at that dang thing (note to all: NEEDLEPOINT IS NOT FUN. I repeat DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. Stick to cross stitch. Dont say I didnt warn you). It is still ONLY about 1/97th complete, and I just happened to realize a couple nights ago, after I hung Stephen's and my stockings on the mantle, that BENNETT'S STOCKING IS FACING THE WRONG WAY. Maybe this isn't a big deal to many of you. But that stocking is now going to be auctioned off on Ebay to the highest bidder. And I am out to BUY a stocking that faces the right way. This year Bennett may just have a little "First Christmas" stocking if I dont find one, but at least it will be facing the right way. GEEZ.
Here are TWO pics, yes that is all I have. ENJOY!
Bennett getting too close to the camera. There is no sitting still these days. Result=no picturesHere is a quick update on us:
