Mother's Intuition? Sixth Sense? Coincidence?

Whatever it may be, I thank it. Last night I was having a little bit of a time falling asleep, and had been tossing and turning for over an hour. It was close to eleven, and I turned to my left side. The monitor was one green bar, meaning happy sleeping baby.

I pressed the button to gaze at my peacefully sleeping babe, who in fact was peacefully sleeping. There was just enough time for me to think that simple thought, when all of a sudden Bennett's eyes pop open. I think "well hello cutie are you about to roll over" and WHAM. Bennett starts heaving his body up and down and VOMITING. ALLLL over himself - face, body, bed, EVERYTHING. I scream, throw the monitor down and run out of the room in a mad dash as Stephen groggily says "whaduymffgauh" to which I respond "Bennett just threw up all over himself." Even though I am halfway across the house when I finish that statement.

I turn on the hall light and enter Bennett's room...to find him half awake with orange yuckiness in gallons all over him and his bed. I sit him up and remove his jammies and he wakes up a little more and is super happy to see me. Thank goodness he doesn't even realize what just happened. I take him into his bathroom and bathe him in the sink. He is shaking (I think because he is cold? or maybe just shaking from the incident and being awake in the middle of the night) but he is still super cute and happy and smiling and talking to me in that sweet little voice of his.

After he is all cleaned up and his Ultimate Crib sheet is changed (God Bless the Ultimate Crib Sheet), I grab his bunny (which somehow managed to dodge the Orange sea that engulfed the crib) and we rock and sing in the glider. He is still strangely super happy and calm and snuggly and cooing. Which is beautiful and calming for a freaked out mama who was trying to shake visions of a convulsing orange spewing choking (for all she knew) baby.

I toyed with ideas of getting the pack and play out and he and I sleeping in the guest room, or making a palate on his floor, but then just placed him in his bed awake and happy, went back to my room, and watched him for almost 20 minutes while he played with his bunny, and then softly fell back asleep.

I think he would have eventually cried and woken me up after awhile, but I still cant believe I caught it all on that darn (but sweetly precious) video monitor.

Speaking of the darn monitor, and on a much lighter note, here is a post I had started to write a few days ago but never finished:

When we bought the Summer handheld video monitor, Stephen asked me if Bennett could hear us too. You may laugh at that, but I have been asked that by MANY people who come to my house and see it for the first time. Mind you most (as in ALL) of these people are guys; I guess because it looks like a walkie talkie.

Anyway, I always have that thought in the back of my mind and it is starting to freak me out how often I will have his monitor with me in my bathroom (which is on the complete opposite end of the house from B's room, and no you cannot hear ANYTHING in one room when you are in the other room) and he will stir or open his eyes right when I turn the hair dryer on. Or when I am in my room and my cell phone will ring (again, cant be heard at the other end of the house - Stephen will attest to that with aggravation...I need to start carrying my cell phone with me around the house) and Bennett will wake up from his nap right at that moment.

I'm crazy I know. But I cant help it the thing freaks me out sometimes.
