Mommy and Daddy go Fishing

and Bennett spends the weekend with La and Pop (with some last minute help from Mimi and Doc).

Stephen and I were invited to go fishing with some friends on Saturday (something I havent done since summer '06). Stephen's parents were so sweet to offer to keep Bennett Friday night and Saturday (and you know we seriously had to twist their arms to do so...ha) while we went to the beach. Stephen and I had a nice adult dinner at a normal dinner eating hour (our second time to do so since B was born) on Friday night. We still had to get up (very) early on Saturday morning though, to get on the boat and head out.

It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun (and of course mentioned Bennett about every 15 minutes or so). Our friends brought their 2 year old son Tripp with them, and I couldnt help but see Bennett in him. I just feel like every little boy I come up to now is mine - does that make sense? I cant help but just want to pick him up and love all over him like he is mine - I guess that makes more sense. Stephen's parents had to go to a wedding Saturday night, so my parents kept Bennett until we came home. We visited the idea of just leaving Bennett at my parents Saturday night for about 5 seconds before we decided we HAD to go get him, even though it would mean waking him up and bringing him home around 9:30pm at night. Bennett woke up so happy and as I put him in his car seat, he reached out and grabbed my face while a huge smile lit up his face. It was so perfect and melted my heart. Its good to get away and do adult things every now and again, but it is so great to come home and immerse myself in baby things once more.
