Ummm ........? When did 5 months just decide to happen? Its hard to believe that Bennett is already five months old, and Im sure I will keep saying this every month. Just some things that Bennett is doing - more for my records than anything! :)
- grabbing everything - toys, feet, faces, sunglasses, hair, eyes (yes eyes), Steele, spoon, etc
- holding his bottle on his own. which actually surprises me bc he doesnt have bottles very often, but he is holding them on his own nonetheless!
- crazy man in his exersaucer. this may sound mean, but it is not: he is like a goldfish who swims around his bowl and thinks "ooo neat a castle, (swim swim swim), oo neat a castle, (swim swim swim)" and repeat. He just keeps spinning and spinning around and around and gets so excited with each little toy he sees, even though he has seem them all a million times - its precious! and he attacks the flower with the smiley face on the end- just so he can pull it down and see the smiley again. he presses his face up against the little mirrored "pond" on one of the toys so he can see himself smile.
- he really laughed for the first time a couple days ago. really laughed. he squeals and chuckles and shrieks, but until now had not really laughed. he sneezed and i just repeated and said "ah-choo!" and he broke out in the best giggles. i probably fake sneezed 60 times and he never lost interest in it.
- we started baby foods - gerber organics veggies level one carrots. mmmmm he was a bit confused when we first fed it to him, but easily caught on.
- back to bottles - he is ravenous. sees a bottle now and freaks out and grabs it and screams at you if you take it away too soon.
- he seems to be weaning himself off breastfeeding, and i am not very happy with this. i am almost refusing him to do so. i never set a time limit on how long i would do it, but at least wanted to make it to six months. he had his first bottle of formula on tuesday - he was still hungry after i fed him and i didnt have time to thaw any stored milk (as i said - the boy is ravenous). he seemed to like it (um LOVE IT) just fine. tear* since tuesday, he is still hungry each time after i feed him. honestly, the sad part is that i just dont have time to do any of the numerous things I could do to physically remedy this, in between full time mommyhood and part time work (on a job that should be someones full time but that is another story). i dont want to starve my boy, but i just want him to hold on a bit longer and humor me with this breastfeeding endeavor.(update from this weekend may30-june1: Stephen and I went fishing with friends and Bennett was on a bottle the entire time and now does not have a great interest at switching back to normal. tear again. i still refuse to let it go though. i am a fighter. yea) just one more sign that my boy is growing up.
- kicks his right leg like mad - i think the thing may fall off if he doesnt give it a rest soon
- stays awake more. still takes 2-3 naps a day, with at least one being 2+ hrs long. sleeps on his tummy at night and during naps and, yes, his head is rounding out nicely! i am so proud.
- trying to sit on his own. he is so close, but still does not have this skill mastered.
- likes to put things in his face - blankets, stuffed animals, our shirts, my hair, burp rag, etc. i cant put anything at all in his crib or he will grab it and bury his face in it.
oh there is so much more! but this will have to do for now :) we love you bennett boy, you five month old pile of chunkiness adorability
