We had such a great Mother's Day (and weekend). Today after church, Stephen, Bennett and I went over to my parent's house where we met Erin and Ben, Stephen's youngest brother David, and Stephen's parents for a huge family celebration of Mother's Day. It was so nice to share my first Mother's Day not only with my husband and son, but with my "two mom's" as I call them. (and of course all you boys (and Erin))
Bennett had a wonderful day of no naps - but not by lack of trying. He fell asleep before church, and we had to wake him up after about 25 minutes to change and feed him. Then I think he snoozed a smidge in the church nursery. Then he took a 5 minute cat nap on the way to my parent's house, but after that, the poor boy didn't see the back of his eyelids until 6:30pm tonight when he finally took a nap (nap at 6:30pm? I know I know).
Tonight though, after we woke him at 8 to bathe and feed him, he was surprisingly calm and just perfectly loving, which made my Mother's Day come to a wonderful end. He was especially cuddly and I didn't want to put him in his bed after I fed him. He just looks at me with those huge baby blues as he plays with my hands and grabs my fingers. I could sit there for hours - days probably.
I hope everyone else out there - all you 'old' mommies, new mommies, honorary mommies, and mommies to be - had a blessed day surrounded by those you love and those who love you.
