January 15th

As Bennett's original due date, it is quite strange now to see it come and go; and here I am with a two week old watching it pass. It's still difficult for me to remember Bennett was born in December and not January, 2007 not 2008. I had a Junior League meeting this morning, and Bennett came with me, and I actually had to correct myself twice when people asked when he was born. I keep starting off with "JanuDecember 29th."

I couldn't imagine not having these past two weeks with Bennett, and I wake up every morning knowing how lucky I am to get to spend the entire day with him. Today was actually a wonderful day - besides the Junior League meeting this morning, we did NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. We sat in front of the TV and computer and napped (again, he did - I did not, even though it was on my agenda of "things to do today"). Nowhere to go, no one to talk to, it was fabulous. And I do feel rested right now.

I think Bennett is going through a growth spurt at the moment - I am used to feeding him every three hours, usually 12-3-6-9 (at night he skips the 12 oclock feeding). However, the past two days he has eaten anywhere from every 1.5 hrs to every three hours (except he slept exceptionally well last night - fed him at 10, he slept until 3, then I had to wake him up at 8 to eat again?!). I think I am beginning to distinguish between his cries - which I still dont understand how you do this, but I seem to know when its an "I'm hungry cry" or an "I'm dirty cry" or "My tummy doesnt feel good and I need to burp cry." Strange mother's intuition I guess!

My friend Millie is currently in labor with her first baby - and it is a surprise to all what it will be! She was due four days after me, but went in last night to be induced. I still haven't heard anything but am hoping she is still not in labor! Or if she is, I hope it is going well!! What a long day this day is - the memory is still *quite* fresh on my mind.

Well, Bennett is giving us that "I'm hungry" cry, so I must adieu and attend to my motherly duty, as duty calls. :)

  1. It does sound like he is in a growth spurt and that he knows day from night! Good job Bennett! Look at all you both have learned in the past two weeks...all the while he could have been in the belly! I'm sure glad he came when he did!
