just in case anyone was still wondering....
I am a tad bit giddy after my appointment today. Everything is going well: all my bloodwork came back and I "passed" (ha) with flying colors. No strange diseases or infections, and that means I dont have to have any more blood drawn until week 27! Good news for needle-shy me.
I have officially gained 2 pounds which I am very excited about, bc it means that there is definitely something growing inside of me. However, the funny part is that I can usually gain or lose two pounds from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed, but I'll take what they said and say Ive gained two pounds!
I dont know why, but hearing the heart beat was a bit more emotional this time than last. Maybe it's because I am showing now, and we are getting closer and closer to finding out what "it" is. The heart beat was around 135 when Dr. Helen first put the doppler on my belly, and I commented on how it was a lot slower than the last two times (which were 171 at the first then 160 at the second). She began to explain that it would be higher if the baby was moving, and as she was talking the heart rate jumped from 135 to 165 to 147 to 156!! It was crazy to know my little "avocado" was busy moving around inside me and I couldn't even feel it! But so great to know the baby is active. Exciting!!!
The Ultrasound is scheduled for Tueaday August 14th at 3 - which is only 12 days away for those of you who are counting....because you better believe I am. When I called Stephen to tell him about the appointment time, he said he had decided it might be fun to not find and just let it be a surprise. I was kinda taken aback but wanted to be understanding if this was his true feeling about it. I said I would tell the Sonographer not to tell him, just me, and that somehow I could figure out how to not let him know for the next 5 months. My mind was already racing on how this would work out, meaning it probably wouldnt....and then he said he was kidding. Whew! I should have realized that it was Stephen I was talking to on the other line and he says things like this for the sole purpose of "messing" with me. He should know better than to mess with a hormonal pregnant woman....he will learn this lesson in due time.... :)
