Well much has happened since my last post....
I helped host a bachelorette weekend for my best friend Katharine at my parents beach house. Stephen and I fretted over what we were going to do about telling/not telling. At the time, I was only 7-8 weeks and we had not had our first doctor's appointment yet. We also had not told our families, which came first of course. We decided that we really wanted to wait until the Ultrasound and appointment to make sure everything was progressing normally, since we were still finding this all hard to believe. Soooo, we thought of this crazy *white* lie to tell all of my friends that weekend. I developed kidney stones. Crazy I know, please forgive me. I knew that if I just said "Im sorry I just dont feel good" my friends would mess with me and would eventually ask if I was pregnant (everyone seems to be watching Stephen and I like hawks recently, like they think it's "time" or something :) ). I knew I wouldn't be able to hide the truth since I was soooooo very excited about it, and we wanted to make sure we told our families before we told other people. The weekend really went without a hitch, and now I'm going to have to follow up with the truth in a couple weeks...I honestly dont think they are going to hold it against me.
On to the doctor's appointment. Stephen met me and we had the Ultrasound first. I don't know what exactly we were expecting, but I asked the nurse "is there anything in there" and when she turned the monitor, Stephen and I were able to see our tiny baby's beating heart - 171 beats per minute! I of course started crying and Stephen was in awe. He asked what it meant and if it was normal, since it was so fast. The nurse said it "meant" that it was a girl, but that was an old wives tale and she knew too many times when that was not the case to really believe it. Stephen looked at me and said "So we are having a girl." I told him that it may be a weeee bit too early to jump to those conclusions. We found out I was 8 weeks 2days, according to the measurements of the baby. Baby Roe is due Janurary 15th! We can hardly wait to tell everyone!!!!!!!!! See pics below from our 8 week appointment:
