"feeeeed DUCKZ!", "benney woe biyebul" and "rose happy day!"

feeeeeeeed duckz!

bennett and i joined some friends at the municipal park friday morning.
i was a little wary at first...i mean i grew up going to the park with my mom and sisters when i was little.

two year old sassy pants me at the municipal park...remind you of anyone?
{hint: same cheeks, same belly that shook when i laughed like a bowl full of jelly,
but only has about a fourth of the hair...}

but when i was little it was a different world entirely.
i was just a little skeptical on the safety of the municipal park - until a good friend told me she has been there several times to the children's play area and if you go during school hours there is noone there.
the first thing bennett said when we drove up was "feeed duckz!!!"
thankfully erin and jack remembered the bread...
i was impressed with how clean and nice the playground was.

i so want one of these swings.  like a swinging recliner

and it was nice being close to the water and there were ducks/geese everywhere.  the kiddos were in love

unlike bennett's last experience with feeding ducks, these werent timid in the least and i had to keep close watch to make sure no fingers were snatched with the snatching of the bread.

im happy to report that all fingers and toes are in tact,
but our shoes are covered in "duck poo" {bennett's new favorite phrase...sheesh}

benney woe biyebul

on sunday bennett saw stephen's and my bibles on the kitchen counter and said "mama daddy biyebul".  i told him that was right and that he had a bible, too.  with that, bennett started screaming "benney woe biyebul! benney woe biyebul!" and ran down the hall to his bedroom.  he got his bible, brought it to our bathroom, and looked through it while we finished getting ready.

before we left he made sure his bible was in his backpack ready to go, just like mommy and daddy's :)

rose happy day!

one day this past week after his nap bennett walked into the den to find new toys he had never seen before.  and they were PINK.  he got all excited until i told him they were for rose, because her birthday party was sunday.  he said "benney woe happy day??" a couple times until i corrected him that it was rose's birthday.  from that point on "rose happy day!" was one of his favorite phrases.  by the time the party rolled around on sunday, bennett was barely containing his excitement.
he had a blast playing with all the new-to-him toys and, of course, eating.

the cheesiest grin i have ever seen.  in  my  life

he only got a little fiesty once when he saw all the presents and, with his bennett breath-catching squeal, hurled his greedy little fingers onto the nearest gift-wrapped prize.  thankfully no damage was done and i again had to correct his "bennett woe happy day!" chants and replace them with "rose happy day!".  he seemed ok with it.

bennett sat next to rose during the song-singing
{which, by the way we had to sing twice bc rose was soooooo excited and loooooved it :) cutie pie}

and after the song was done and before any parent {including me} could do anything about it, bennett leaned over and blew out her candle.
yep.
that was my son

i dont think bennett minded being surrounded by pink, and apparently his daddy didnt mind either since he was the one who placed the nice pink hat atop our blue-to-the-core son's head.  at age two bennett is already secure in his manhood.

bennett slept for over four hours when we got home, as tends to be the after-birthday-party trend these days.
i like and appreciate that trend

{ps.  THIS was the post that was supposed to, um, POST this morning...not the chalkboard one.  i wouldnt intentionally post too many "crafty" posts back to back and was planning on saving that one for when i didnt have anything else to post about. BUUUUUT i pushed the wrong button}

{pps.  over at mobile bay monthly they are featuring a five day series of posts i wrote titled "new years resolutions for the house and garden".  it was a little overwhelming at first, since i was given an "assignment" of sorts - usually they just ask if they can use one of my posts i already wrote.  i had fun writing it though and now need to actually get my act together and follow some of the resolutions i wrote about! :)  leighton split the post into five parts with one resolution posted each day this week.  i will post the entire original post on my blog on friday.  go HERE and check it out!}

  7. Hey guys,

    I'm just browsing sites for the kids of Haiti.

    I'm doing this for a non-profit group that is dedicated to
    building an oppurunity for the children in haiti. If anyone wants to donate then this is the place:

    Donate to Haiti or Help Haiti

    They give children in Haiti a positive learning environment.

    Please check them out, they're legitimate.

    It would be awesome if you could help us
