blog template info

alrighty - im just going to dive right in...

lots of you have asked, and i have spent way too much time over my blogging years trying to find answers to these questions for myself, so here are some tricks to customizing your blog and working in the "edit html" tab {under the "layout" tab}.

first, change your blog to the "minima" general blogger template. {first first, you might want to save your current template in case you want to go back to your original blog look....by clicking "download full template" on the "edit html" tab. just save it to your desktop for easy recovery}

from there:

1. you can change the size of your posting area {and in turn be able to upload larger pictures in your posts}. the easiest, most straight-forward instructions {i found} were from this website: CLICK HERE

2. for the longest time, i have just made my "border color" the same color as my background so i didnt have lines around my photos, lines in between the different links on the sidebar, or a frame around my header. the reason i did this is because the border around the header never matched correctly with my uploaded picture.

HOWEVER ~ today i found how to get rid of it, which made me very excited and inspired this post. {do i sound like a complete computer dork yet? almost? ok then keep reading...i promise not to disappoint}
i always liked the way the pictures looked framed, so now i get the best of both worlds. to remove the border around your header, CLICK HERE for instructions.

3. want to use a different color besides what blogger gives you in the "fonts and colors" tab? go HERE or HERE, choose your color, and enter that six digit code in the little box under "enter color hex code" on the right side of that screen. make sure you keep the "#" before your six digits. then press enter on your keyboard to make it change to that color.

4. want to add a picture to the outside of your blog but keep the middle white {or any other color}? {you can go to my business blog HERE to see an example} go HERE for instructions. you can get the six digit "color code" it talks about from those sites i mentioned in #3...for example, white is #FFFFFF. {also, it doesnt say this on the site, but you have to do it, too: make sure you add that "background-color: #color code;" code after the place where it says "#outer-wrapper {", too}

those are just a few things that help you customize your blog. let me know if you have any questions about anything else....chances are, ive asked the same thing!

{do i sound like a computer dork now? ok, mission accomplished}
