absolutely scrumptious shrimp and rice

bc i dont know what else to call it!

after an inspiring afternoon of julie&julia with some friends, my sister rachel and i hit the kitchen to chef ourselves out on some fresh shrimp.

i would say i was inspired to cook bc of the movie but this dish
a)has nothing to do with any specific dish of mrs childs and
b)does not taste like any of her dishes, i am more than sure...

but we had fun cooking it.

here is the recipe, again, to the best of my memory:

Absolutely Scrumptious Shrimp and Rice

1. melt 1/4 stick of butter in a medium pan
2. add 3 chopped cloves garlic and 1/2 small or 1/3 large onion, chopped. cook until onion is translucent
3. add a heavy splash of red or white wine {we had red on hand, but i imagine white would do just fine}
4. add 1T plus 1t Worchestershire sauce
5. add 3/4 can chicken broth {just those regular 14 or 15 ounce cans} and 1 small carton of heavy cream.
6. simmer while you prepare shrimp {if sauce gets too thick, add a little more chicken broth}

7. place raw, de-shelled shrimp {about a pound} on a baking sheet covered in aluminum foil and cooking spray.
8. season with kosher salt, pepper, one clove chopped garlic, olive oil, and 1t lemon zest.
9. squeeze a little bit of lemon on top and top with several thin lemon slices
10. bake at 375 for 6 minutes.

11. after 6 minutes, add shrimp {and juices and lemon slices} to sauce. {some of the shrimp will be close to cooked, but the shrimp in the middle of the pan may still be a little under cooked}
12. add some more lemon zest to dish {around 1/2 t or so?} and simmer until shrimp is cooked.
13. remove from heat and add juice of 1/2 lemon and 1/4 c chopped parsley.

14. serve shrimp and sauce over basmati rice with steamed snap peas and french bread

YUM!
