is something we have been hearing a lot over the past few days. to say the least, my parents are giddy. to catch you up, 30 years ago today mi mama y mi papa got hitched.

and i would like them to know that i am so thankful they did
if my parents are anything, they are in love with each other. and even after 30 years, ive never doubted it a minute. they are living examples that opposites attract, and that marriages work if you always {at least} try the 60-40 rule....give 60%, take 40%.
if both live by this rule, well you do the math. you would actually be giving 60% but in return be receiving 60% , so your marriage would be 120% superb.
i like that equation, in the "perfect world scenario" sense.
all marriages have ups and downs, but i have to say... three kids, one grandchild, and 30 years later, my parents are in their prime.

i have never in my life seen them happier.
here's to you, mom and dad! and to at least 30 more years of wedded bliss

Love your mom's dress and the wedding cake. Makes me wish things were that simple today and that the wedding was about the couple not about how much money is spent and how big the wedding is.
ReplyDeletehow sweet!! love the pictures!! i hope they have a great day!
ReplyDeleteAww, Happy Anniversary Roger & Jan!! Love these pics - esp the one of them in the car - so cute!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Natalie! I am smiling and teary eyed at the same time:)
ReplyDeleteMy dear father-in-law, your Grandfather, taught me that 60/40 concept when I was newly married, and I don't mind at all that you are passing it along. Thank you for the photo 'walk down Memory Lane'. The heart with initials was done on snowcovered frozen water during a big snowfall at Mississippi State, winter of 1978. We had been dating about 10 months. The cake in the photo is actually the Groom's cake, and our reception was 'Simply' special...two cakes, punch, coffee, toasted pecans, and multi colored mints:)
Happy Anniversary, Setzlers!!! You two look just as happy then as you do now! and such a cute couple!!!
