my big fat anniversary giveaway

**** UPDATE:  comment deadline extended until Thursday May 21st, 5pm****
(this way I can actually be at the computer to get the last comment, instead of having it end tonight at 12 midnight - bc I will NOT be up at that time thankyouverymuch)

yes ladies and gents, today my quaint little blogger-expedition turns two.

from meager, humble beginnings; from an i-have-no-idea-what-im-getting-into frame of mine; from writing in the html tab for the first year of existence bc i had no idea there was anything else available; from knowing ONE person who had a blog; to this:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
well, honestly, the only thing thats changed is that now i realize everyone and their grandpa has a blog. we are still pretty meager and clueless over here.

BUT, in honor of two years of consistent (sometimes), entertaining (rarely), encouraging (practically never), inspiring (what am i talking about??), photorific (definitely), down right bennettastic (there we go) blogging, i am having my first ever

GIVEAWAY

all you have to do is leave a comment, about whatever you choose (or, you could make a comment about absolutely nothing at all, your call) and i will have that random program online that chooses numbers randomly pick the winner!

what is the giveaway you ask? the random winner will receive:

one apron, made by moi, in your choice of fabric (details about choosing fabric will be sent to winner upon...winning).
it could look like one of these:

or it could not, you decide.

thats all! leave a comment, enter to win, and this giveaway will officially close at midnight wednesday may 20th. winner will be announced on thursday may 21st

and for those of you who care (probably not many) here is the story of said apron:

a year ago, stephen "got onto" me about our insane use of paper towels. when i cook, i wash and dry my hands too many times to count. leaves my hands looking like this
not so great for the lotion-lover that i am. and no that is not my hand. i googled "wrinkly hands." yes i did.

anyway, my crazy mind decided the best way to remedy this was to wear a half apron, made of soft absorbent cotton, when i cook. plus it might be kinda purdy and i just like stuff like that. i looked up aprons online, trying to find a good free pattern, but nothing suited my fancy.

so i did what any crazed-lets-make-life-a-weeeee-bit-more-challenging mom would do...i just kinda started cutting. like most domestic-related "firsts" in my life (i.e. cooking: my first home cooked meal as a newlywed consisted of me somehow turning a claimed "20 minute meal" into a three and a half hour nightmare), this first apron took me way too long, expended way too much energy, and left my poor baby way too un-stimulated (cause mama was sewin' child). as i was making it (cause it took days i tell you) i decided i was going to give it to my friend julianne who was getting married soon (she was having a linen shower soon, and this counts, right? its cloth? oh well).

well, as luck would have it bennett decided i should keep it for myself by projectile you-know-what-ing all over it in super reflux baby fashion.* i wear that apron about 5 days a week...stephen says it looks like part of my wardrobe: "you should wear it as a skirt. but then again maybe not from the back..." he says.

about 15 aprons later, i am up to assembly line speed and i have to say making them is as much fun (to me) as wearing them. so is finding the fabric.
anyway, that is the apron story. hope it didnt bore the few of you who are reading this to tears, but if it did.....maybe you will win something to show for it.

and if you happen to highly dislike the apron, and have no desire to ever see let alone OWN one, feel free not to comment. cause you just might get picked.

randomly

*dont worry, friend julianne did receive a spankin new apron, just many months after said linen shower. sorry again, juge, for the tardiness of my gift giving....
