memorable memorial day 2009

in true memorial day fashion (at least around these parts)  we ventured to the beach for the long weekend.  bennett had a bit of a rough weekend - sleeping wise.  rejected a few naps for the first time EVER (since taking just one nap a day) and woke up several times a night.  dont know if it was a new place (we moved his bed down there to another room to accommodate all the people) or a weird sound or him just being abnormally difficult, but it sure was not a welcomed change.  

good news is that we are all back to normal today, tuesday, with a great night sleep last night and a sleepy boy who went down for an early afternoon nap with not even a squeak.

back to the weekend - it was great.  :)  since the weather wasnt too promising, my puzzle-loving mom and sister got an insanely insane 1000 piece puzzle that i couldnt help but help out on a bit (even though my attention span at any given time on those things is 15 minutes MAX). food was everywhere, as it usually is during the family gatherings, and weight was most likely gained by all.  i mean, if you leave memorial day weekend and you dont gain weight....you obviously didnt just have memorial day weekend...right?  

now its tuesday, we have a short week and a good friend getting married this weekend at another fabulous destination.  bennett is going to "mimi and doc camp" while we are away, which he loves, so there are no worries with that.  

may has been a crazy month, and while ive loved every day of it so far, im also looking forward to the more lazy summer days of june and july.  

yea right - when is it every lazy around here?  i think our middle names are "GO" and i wouldnt have it any other way!

have i mentioned how obsessed bennett is with "eee-i eee-i eee-i??" (baby einstein's "baby macdonald"). it is outrageous.  just developed last week and for a baby who has spent the past sixteen and a half months caring absolutely nothing about the tv, it is an entertaining and interesting adjustment.  so, as you can imagine, we all watched countless hours of "eee-i eee-i" this weekend

bennett is also quite fond of the computer (especially the screensaver bc it is all of HIM).  mama wont let him play with hers.  but it appears mimi will.

on saturday it rained, as in tropical depression rained.  since outside-beachy-things werent in the forecast, we cooked crawfish instead.  i thought there was some beauty (color/texture wise) in these creepy alien looking creatures (who happen to taste de-lish).  look at the size of that claw!

although it rained on saturday, the sun was out in all its hot and humid glory on sunday and monday.  as always the food was ridiculous (-ly wonderful), as was the company.
