Steelwood

Stephen and I are so lucky that both our parents have such fun places for us to visit. We have spent most of the summer weekends at the beach with my parents, and this weekend, in lieu of our cruise (grr) Stephen and I decided to take advantage of the fact that his parents have a cabin at Steelwood, a local country club type place that is in the middle of the woods, on a lake and is
B E A U tiful.

We felt like we were on vacation. We got over to Steelwood (which is about 30 minutes from our house) Friday afternoon. Bennett slept in the car on the way over and then stayed asleep for a good while we unpacked the car and then unpacked everything inside. Steelwood has a delicious restaurant, but we weren't planning on braving that with a crazy LOUD little 8 month old. They would have to set us up in a special room away from the main dining room, anyway, so we went to the grocery and stocked up on yummy food for the weekend.

Around 5:30, we borrowed a golf cart from the clubhouse and took Bennett and Steele around Steelwood to look at all the pretty houses and just explore. They have a really neat old fire engine at the playground, which turned out to be a pretty cool photo opp!

Where you goin B?

We also visited the little chapel on site. So peaceful. Its kinda blurry, but I love what this said at the entrance of the chapel.

So this is what those cup holders are for. Mmmmmm We came home, put Bennett to bed, and had this for dinner.
We ate dinner by candlelight on the back screened porch, overlooking the lake and a beautiful moon.

Bennett actually slept IN until 8:22 this morning to be exact. It was quite nice. We had a big breakfast and Bennett helped me in the kitchen.
He also got to taste scrambled eggs for the first time.
After his morning nap, he curled up next to me to watch some Game Day College Football. We were bummed that we couldn't get the Auburn game on satellite. Bennett decided to dress the part anyway.

Bennett decided he had enough of the woods around 5pm (well, that is when his daddy and I decided our relaxing weekend wasn't that relaxing when you are constantly listening to a screaming, shrieking baby. We think he is working on those top teeth. Only time will tell). We decided to come home.

We had such a wonderful time, and are actually glad we came back. Something about changing locations makes the weekend seem longer.

Nite nite and War Eagle
