It is about time. Do you ever get that feeling that you and your husband (or wife, if you happen to be one of the I'm sure few men who read this blog) aren't living in the same house, you are just cohabiting? Well, that is what it has felt like recently around here. Busy busy busy weeks separated by busy busy weekends. Lots of busy (albeit FUN) family weekends when it seems we only see each other and talk right before we go to sleep, to weekends spent apart - one with friends and one on call, to weekends that seem more like week DAYS and pass in a blur.
This weekend was one filled with just the three of us: getting much needed things done around the house, resting, napping, watching movies, watching the Olympics (Ummm what am I going to do when they are over??? Summer Olympics are the BEST and this time difference thing is keeping me up way past my bedtime), playing, laughing until our tummies hurt, cooking dinner together, eating out at our local favorite - Ruby Tuesdays (try it - they got a new "do"), going to church, and getting TCBY like the old days (we went at least once a week in college, and then several times a month before the TCBY closed down the street, now we have to drive all the way across town, but my Oreo and White Chocolate Mousse Shiver is WAY worth it).
I feel invigorated and alive and back to our normal.
And Bennett is the star of our normal. He is way to good to be real. Listen to me I sound like a MAMA. :) He really started reaching for us yesterday. As in one of us is holding him, he sees the other, and with both arms lunges his body in a huge reach for the other. He also started kissing us. Open mouth to face with hands holding on tight. He loves it (as do we of course). He has been waking up (or making his first noises) at 8 the past several mornings. Yessssssss
Bennett also has had his first cold this past week. Runny nose, a little conjested, some coughs (both real and fake) but no fever or fussiness or trouble sleeping; so besides loads of boogers and of course drool (welcome to the land of Mama) we seem to be just fine. He still only two bottom teeth, even though we thought several times he was getting a top one. He smiles and they are so cute. He loves standing and tries to all the time. He is just now realizing he can use other things to help him stand (besides our hands) but has not mastered the skill as of yet. He is also bouncing on all fours and has found himself in many strange situations because of it.
I do too.
OH, Nat! Loved the update and pics! Sounds like yall had a great weekend! Love, Love! Can't wait to see Bennett's reach and kisses!
ReplyDeleteaw how fun!!! we kinda felt the same way, and had a wonderful weekend just the 2 of us!!! lovin those pics... and
ReplyDeleteBen randomly said this evening, in the middle of watching the olympics:
"hey goat, i miss bennett" to which i responded "me too!" :)
I know JUST what you are talking about regarding normalcy! We have felt the same way recently. So often during FUN filled family weekends I think Troy and I do more parallel play (like toddlers do) than we actually get to connect. Glad you had a great weekend...what WILL we do when the olympics are over???
