I have prayed and prayed for this day, not only for what it signifies, but for behavioral reasons too!! Please Lord, dont let Bennett spit up all over the preacher. Please Lord, keep Bennett calm and dont let him freak out. Please Lord, please just let all baby bodily functions come to a halt for just one hour.
And he did. Bennett was perfect! He threw a few fusses our way right before the service, and Momma and Daddy got a little nervous. However once the organ started playing, Bennett's eyes got big and he sat in awe until the baptism. Smart church - they do the baptism right at the beginning of the service - just in case fussy babies need to leave after they are baptised.
Luckily, we had to do no such thing. We walked up to the front of the church, and Gorman Houston baptised Bennett and the whole congregation vowed to help and support us in raising Bennett in a loving and Christian environment. It was such a wonderful feeling to give Bennett back to God, where he always belonged and really never left in the first place. After the baptism, Bennett crashed in my arms and snoozed the remainder of the service. There was another little baby crying behind us on and off throughout the rest of the service, and I couldn't help but look down at my peaceful, newly baptised baby and smile. The service was amazing and we left feeling renewed.
After church we had family and some close friends over to our house for a wonderful brunch (thanks to everyone for helping with the food!!). Then I opened Bennett's (my) presents. Such wonderful keepsakes that I know he (I) will enjoy! After everyone left, Stephen, Bennett and I all relaxed and took some much needed naps.
It was such a blessed day. Below are some pictures - notice there are none of just the three of us. We had some taken at the church, so I will be sure to post those once we get them in!

Bennett's gown
(gown story: saw this when I was 6 months pregnant, didnt buy bc didnt know what size B would need. Now B is here and date set for baptism. Cant find this gown anywhere and cant find any other that I like [too stiff, too blah, too frilly, too simple, etc etc]. Find out who made this gown. Call lady in Gulfport, MS. She does not have this in B's size at the moment. Gives me names of stores across the country she has sold the 6mo size to in the past 6 months. I call and the sixth store has it. In Raleigh, NC. Ships it UPS to me and I get it in three days! So yes I love this gown!!!)

"I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. So now I give him to the LORD. For his whole life he will be given over to the LORD."
