My first Babysitters

were so great! Erin and Ben kept Bennett today while we went to OOM Mardi Gras party. Saturday night we decided to see if Bennett would take a bottle - I was thinking of course he will! arent bottles easier for babies than breastfeeding?

WRONG!

Bennett screamed and spit the bottle out and we tried and tried and tried. No go. I thought our OOM outing was...well...out. I tried again at 6:30am, and he did better, but still not great. He did about the same at 9:30. We decided to try and go anyway. (are we crazy? I kept thinking...)
It turns out we were not crazy. At OOM, I had probably 50 people tell me that I WAS crazy, but in another way - they all said 'Of course Bennett wont take a bottle if his momma is anywhere near him! He wants the real thing.' It was crazy how many people toold me that, and it did start to make sense. I called Erin at 3:30 to check on Bennett's feeding process, and she said he did great! No problem at all. I was sooooo very happy.
Stephen and I had a blast at OOM and it was actually pretty nice to get out and be social for the first time in quite awhile. And Mr. Bennett deserves an A+ on behavior.

Thank you Aunt Erin and Uncle Ben!

  1. hey there.
i notice you are using BornFree bottles.
I really wanted to use these and ran the idea past my pediatrician. He seemed to think the whole Bisphenol A thing is not proven and so minute not a big deal. Id love to hear if yours thinks otherwise. I feel like my gut saying it matters but I feel stupid when the Dr acts like it's nothing. Any thoughts?

  3. now that bennett takes the bottle (ha) we are fine with the born free bottles (the few times he has actually had a bottle). in my opinion, better safe than sorry. if they think there may be some issues with the bisphenol a, and born free is bisphenol a - free, then why not use them? thats just me though. im starting to think doctors are going to disagree with all studies and reports out there - bottles, vaccinations, etc... this seems to be the trend.

  4. We love the Born Free bottles and sippy cups! I'm with Natalie ... if there is a possibly safer option out there, why not use it?
