and what an outing it was!
Bennett has been such a traveler, and a trooper at that, happily riding in his car seat to Target, Babies R Us, Walgreens, Linens N Things, out to lunch twice, and many other car rides (all with barely a peep). However all of these outings have been with Momma AND someone else helping - Daddy, Aunie, Mimi, Aunt Rachel, etc. Today, Bennett and I had to go to his two week appointment. So I packed the diaper bag, Bennett in his car seat, grabbed my planner (it had coupons in it for grocery shopping later) and a little mirror for the car so I can look in my review mirror and see him while driving. We went out to the car, I put him in the base, attached the mirror, grabbed my bag, backed out the driveway, and headed to the doctor's office.
About 2 minutes away from my house, I heard and saw something bounce off my trunk and onto the road...ahhh! I knew immediately it was my planner, and that in my frenzy of trying to remember everything and get to the doctor's office and handle the baby I had left it on the roof of my car. SO frustrating!
So I immediately pulled into someones driveway and got out of the car to look behind me on the road to see if I saw it. NOPE. Not to mention that I couldn't really look for it, since I did have a BABY in the car. Such a terrible helpless feeling, as my whole life is (now) in that planner. I did use the Microsoft Outlook on the computer as my calendar/organizer, but now that I will not be in front of the computer 24/7, I recently switched back to my trusty dependable planner for my daily organization. Since there really was nothing I could do, I headed to the doctor's office and left my beloved planner lying somewhere on a busy traffic-y road; begrudgingly left it to a tire-track filled smooshing of a death. So tragic.
Switch to doctors appointment: Bennett is 8lbs 10oz - they wanted him to be over his birth weight by day 14, and he is 5oz over on day 12! So he IS getting enough to eat and I dont have to set alarms to get up every 2 hours at night to feed him. Great news! Our next appt is January 29th at I DONT REMEMBER WHAT TIME BC I DONT HAVE MY PLANNER.
Anyway, on the way home Erin calls me and she and my mom are on McGregor (the road) looking for my planner for me....in the drizzle-ish rain. God Bless them. I stopped and helped them, but to no avail. The planner had disappeared into thin air.
However, when I got home my cell phone rang and wonderful Jolietha had stopped and picked up my planner. Bless sweet Jolietha. She gave me her phone number and I am going to pick it up this afternoon on my way to the grocery store.
So, all is well in Natalie land now that the planner has been found. And sweet Bennett just slept through the whole mess.

Isn't that just the way it goes...when the baby is being perfect some other random life obstacle steps in to be sure your day isn't boring. I'm so glad Bennett is growing well, I know that feels so good to you!
