I am in LOVE! I cant help it. Well first things first, I had my glucose tolerance test that tests for gestational diabetes, (which means I drink yucky super-sugary drink then have my blood drawn an hour later to test how much sugar my body has absorbed) and I FAILED it!! you are supposed to score a 135 or below, and I scored a 140!!!! I was a little surprised, as was the lady drawing my blood. She did ask before she drew my blood why I was taking this test at 2pm instead of first thing in the morning like everyone else, and it was bc I also had an ultrasound and this was when Stephen could take off. She said my score will be higher already just bc its later in the day and I have eaten several meals and have more glucose in my system. Who knows! All I know is that I have to take the test again in 3 weeks - Dr Rogers isnt making me do the 3 hour test bc she does not think I have gestational diabetes - she just wants me to retake the test in the morning like recommended to get a more accurate score. Sooooo more yucky red stuff and more blood drawn. Im praying everything will be OK and that I do NOT have Gestational Diabetes - I dont think I have it (after listening to my doctor) but the thought is still pretty scary!!!
THEN we had our Ultrasound. Bennett is looking great - moving around like crazy (like ALWAYS). He was sticking out his tongue, rolling, and had his legs stretched straight out in front of him! - ha! His is positioned like I thought he was - head down, with his butt pressed up against my right ribcage (hence the constant pressure!). Then we got a little surprise and got to see his face in 3D/4D (whatever it is called). He looks like a little Stephen to me!!!
The Ultrasonographer measured everything, and it looks like we have a big boy on our hands. His head width is in the 98 percentile - (ahhhhhhhhh), the rest of his body is in the 80's percentile. His femur is in the 49th, which sounds kind of weird to me that he would be 80 and 90 everywhere else, but Dr Rogers said this is perfectly fine and he is still completely proportional. All I know is that hes beautiful! :)
His right kidney looked fine - completely normal fluid-level wise. His left kidney, though, had 0.59 cm fluid in it. They said if it was 0.7 or above they would be worried, so its really the same results as last time. He is below the "worry about it" level, but still elevated above "normal" - sooo what does this mean? This means another Ultrasound at 37 weeks. So yay to seeing him again! :)
After the roller coaster of an appointment, I cant help but start thinking and worrying and finding myself wanting to go too far with this. But we have complete support and reassurance from our doctor that everything is OK and there is nothing to be alarmed about. Dr Rogers said she was not worried about his kidneys at all, and did not think we needed to do anything "extra" about it (like go to South Alabama Medical Center or Pensacola to see a specialist). She said they would just go overboard and all they do is scare people, when we have nothing to be scared about. I think I am more worried that I may have gestational diabetes, which seems like a long shot and like it really doesnt make sense. Dr Rogers was shocked I didnt "pass" the glucose test (in the past I have had more tendencies to be HYPOglycemic (low blood pressure, etc), not HYPERglycemic) but it is still not the greatest thing to fail the test whatever the circumstances may be! I think I am going to call this morning and see if I can come in to take the test tomorrow morning to get it over with - I dont want to wait three weeks for the results!!
Soooooo overall, everything is good and Bennett is healthy as can be (lets just pray his momma is). I will keep everyone updated on all of this craziness! Hope everyone has a great rest of the week :)
