27 weeks

From Babycenter.com:
"This week your baby weighs almost 2 pounds and is about 14.4 inches long with his legs extended. He can now open and close his eyes, and he sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. He may suck his fingers, and although his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with assistance — if he were to be born prematurely. Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and isn't bothersome to him, so enjoy the tickle. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. Wonder what he's thinking?"

Stephen and I are slowly but surely getting everything ready in the nursery. Carpet was installed last week, (so therefore the room/closet was completely emptied and all the contents had to be disposed of/relocated - not fun) and I cant wait to play with Bennett on the nice new carpeted floor. We are waiting for tile to come in for the hall bathroom floor, but after that is installed we will be done with that room! Now we must wait for the furniture (which should be in early-mid November) and the bedding (which should be done whenever I get motivated and spend a couple good weekends on it...that will be interesting).

Bennett's movements are much more precise now, and sometimes I feel like he is almost aiming at something when he kicks/punches. I cant wait to see him in a week and see if he really is positioned like I think he is (head down and to the left, bottom up at the top right of my belly).

This past weekend was Erin's bachelorette party at the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, and we had a blast. Actually is was quite relaxing as we just lounged around the pool on Saturday (the weather was fantastic!). At dinner, I substituted wine with chocolate, and had some killer desserts.

MMMMMM CHOCOLATE

I was able to wear my new maternity jeans by Chip and Pepper which was very exciting. Seriously - I have only worn them twice and they are WAAAY worth it. I almost felt 'normal' in my jeans and pre-maternity shirts....it was nice! However, there is no escaping the belly (why would I want to anyway?) and it was probably a pretty interesting sight seeing a pregnant lady at a bar. I did enjoy how accommodating everyone was though and we even got a 'high rollers VIP' table at one place bc I was 'pregnant and needed to sit down.' Yesssssss :)

In other baby news, our next door neighbors, the Prati's, just had their second little boy a week ago. Drew has a big brother named Jake (who turns two in November) so Bennett will have a bunch of fun role models to show him the ropes. I can already see them running around the neighborhood causing havoc.

Also, my good friend Amanda (who lives in Orange Beach, AL) just found out last week that she and her husband Jared are expecting a little girl in March! Girlfriend material? You bet!
