Well, I learned something yesterday at the Ultrasound. All those books, websites, etc arent really that accurate. They are good at generalizations and guesstimating what is going on each week, but the Sonographer informed me that they are mostly way off. For example, I have a book that I borrowed from my next door neighbor that follows pregnancy week by week, and we read it every Tuesday night to get updates on the baby. On this past Tuesday night, it said that our little one weighed around 5-5.6 ounces and was approximately 5 inches from crown to rump. Oh contrare (spell?)- as you can read below in previous posts, the average baby at 18 weeks weighs around 8-9 ounces, and our little man weighs about 10. So that 'fact' was WAY off. I will still read them, but I guess the Babycenter's "fruit analogies" arent always that accurate and may be misleading. They do seem to be a little more on track, though, compared to the weekly book we read. Regardless, here is what Babycenter.com had to say about the baby this week:
"Head to bottom, your baby is approximately 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a large sweet potato) and she weighs almost 7 ounces. She's busy flexing her arms and legs — movements that you'll likely start noticing more and more. Her blood vessels are visible through her thin skin and her ears are now in position and stand out from her head. Myelin (a protective covering) is beginning to form around her nerves, a process that will continue for a year after she's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and Fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If your baby is a boy, his genitals are noticeable, though he may hide them from you during an ultrasound."
Our little guy was obviously not one of those "modest" babies, and we are thankful he wasn't!! :)

bummer that the books are off...it is fun to try to grasp what is going on in there though! :-) Jack was 7oz at 18 weeks and weighed 7lbs 1oz (same as i did) at birth, he was a week early. I'm doubting that has any revelance to the size of little boy Roe but I'd thought I'd throw something else in the mix with the food analogies. I'm glad you are having so much fun! I remember our shopping spree quite well :)
